Heritage Recipe Inspired by Disney's Apple Supreme

At one time served at Top of the World at the Contemporary Resort and Garden Gallery at The Disney Inn, this homey dish is comfort food for cool fall evenings

You will need: 1 cup graham cracker crumbs, 3 T melted butter, 4 apples (Granny Smith or a mixture of various types), 1 1/4 cup water, 3/4 cup sugar, divided, 2 tsp cinnamon, 2 T cornstarch, 3T cold water, 1/2 cup butter, 1 cup flour

Mix crumbs and melted butter and press in bottom of an 8x8x2-inch baking pan.

Core and peel apples and cut into pieces. Simmer apples, water, 1/4 cup of the sugar and the cinnamon until apples are just tender, about 2 minutes. Add cornstarch, which has been dissolved in cold water. Simmer 5 minutes. Cool.

Cream butter and remaining 1/2 cup sugar. Blend in flour until crumbly to make topping.

Pour cooled apple filling into graham cracker crust. Sprinkle topping over apples.
