Sea World San Diego Dolphin Interaction

If you have a Dolphin lover in your family (don't most?), then the Dolphin Interaction at Sea World San Diego is Bucket List worthy.  A truly hands on experience, this in depth extra ticket item comes in at $215.00 per person. You will be issued a Sea World wet suit and must remove all jewelry. You are then led to the Dolphin Interaction area by a trainer and your experience begins. Children must be at least 10 years old and over 48 inches. Water will reach from chest to waist high, so swimming is not a requirement. Don't be surprised when you get wet! As the trainer said, "It's a wet suit, not a dry suit".
Group size was small, with 2 groups of 4, each with a trainer. There were two dolphins in the pool, and groups alternated between them.

The first portion of the Interaction was educational,  learning about Dolphins and training methods, having a chance to practice what you've learned, dance with the dolphin, give it a kiss and offer fish treats.

The groups then switched dolphins, and had a chance to pose some more, learn some more and then a quick swim with the Dolphin across the pool. The entire experience ran close to an hour.

Naturally, Sea World photographers are there to capture the memories. You are free to take your own photographs as well, but the area surrounding the Interaction area is rocky and it's difficult to get many good shots. After your interaction you are shown the professional photos and may purchase a variety of packages or the whole CD with all photos for $89.00.

Young or old, this extra ticket item is well worth it for Dolphin fans.
